Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership
The Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Partnership oversees the economic revitalization of Myrtle Avenue in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill, Brooklyn.
The Partnership is comprised of two entities, the Myrtle Avenue Revitalization Project Local Development Corporation (MARP) and the Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn Business Improvement District (BID), working together to assist the small businesses located along the avenue and improve the quality of life of the surrounding neighborhoods.
The Partnership boards of directors are comprised of avenue merchants and property owners, local business and community leaders, universities, not-for-profits, and area residents. These two boards work in tandem to provide the vision and leadership necessary to maintain and enhance Myrtle Avenue.
Current initiatives include the revitalization of a public plaza along Myrtle, walking and educational tours in the area, the promotion of locally owned businesses in the Myrtle Avenue BID, and a wide variety of artistic initiatives which includes the Public Art and Sculpture initiative through which the Myrtle Avenue Bird Town project is made possible.

New York City Department of Parks and Recreation
Parks & Recreation is the steward of about 29,000 acres of land — 14 percent of New York City — including more than 5,000 individual properties ranging from Coney Island Beach and Central Park to community gardens and Greenstreets. They operate more than 800 athletic fields and nearly 1,000 playgrounds, 550 tennis courts, 66 public pools, 48 recreational facilities, 17 nature centers, 13 golf courses, and 14 miles of beaches. They care for 1,200 monuments and 23 historic house museums. We look after 600,000 street trees, and two million more in parks. They are New York City’s principal providers of recreational and athletic facilities and programs and are home to free concerts, world-class sports events, and cultural festivals.
The Myrtle Avenue Bird Town project will take place within Parks Department land. Specifically a small triangular planting bed at the Northwest corner of Fort Greene Park and the planting area of Person Park. We are very pleased to be able to use these sites for our installation and applaud those in the department that allowed this project to move forward.
