INSTALLATION

We made it! We’re here! We installed today!

We woke up at 8am, groggy, and rolled out of bed. Daniel, Scott, and I met up at the shop and loaded up ladders, tools, and all 50 (!) houses and feeders.

The houses and feeders laid out at the shop:

Chris and Jeremy met us at our first installation site, the Northwest corner of Fort Greene Park at Myrtle Avenue and St. Edwards Street. With the help of some apples, apple cider donuts, and Fuji apple juice, we were ready to go.

Jeremy and I prepare straps with burlap sleeves and D-rings while he contemplates strangling me because of my needless babbling:

Daniel chats up some passers-by, a Dutch architect and his lady friend, about the Cantilever house and its relation to Dutch architecture:

Nick came by later with his son Teiji, to check out the action and drop off the birdseed we accidentally left at the shop.

I reinstall the Drain feeder after filling it while Nick and Teiji carefully spot me on the ladder:

Eventually, it was time to move onto the other site, Person Square at Myrtle Avenue and Carlton Street. Dasha surprised us and popped by to help do some spotting.

Dasha spots Chris while he installs the Jog houses, the last of the houses to be installed:

All in all, the day was a great success and we owe much of that to our friends, Scott, Chris, and Jeremy, who put in a huge effort to get this done. Check it out:

Just like Daniel’s rendering.
