Strangely, after beginning this project, we are running into more wildlife than usual. We realize that our project is for the birds (get it?), but we didn’t think that we would have such close encounters with so many Red Hook critters.

I found a baby squirrel today on the way to the shop. He was far away from any trees or parks, so I thought it would be best to pick him up and take him away from busy, car ridden Van Brunt Street. But first, I decided to bring him by the shop to check out some of the properties. We named him Salt.

Salt is our first tenant. Unlike Mystery Chicken, he took to the Patchwork House immediately, as you can see here:
