Walking home from the shop at 1 AM led us to a chance meeting with a new friend, Mystery Chicken. On a brisk windy night, we wouldn’t expect a bright white dove to be perched on a low fence, but Mystery Chicken is no ordinary bird. With my poor eyesight and approaching from a distance, I thought I saw a chicken. Instead it was a remarkably tame bird, but clearly distressed – it must be a lost pet. Well, we took Mystery Chicken back to the shop for a couple of nights… lots of delicious bird seed and fresh water.

With a guest bird around, we thought it might be time to show some vacant properties. Unfortunately, Mystery Chicken has a very messy way of expressing annoyance in the lack of amenities.

Alas, the time always comes to say goodbyes, but not before Jenn gave a little chase to the bird as we set it free!

Bye bye Mystery Chicken! We hope you get home safely.
